We actually saw such an object above our heads a number of times today. The sun was fighting to come out of the persistent cloud cover. We sat on the beach for some time in the late morning just before lunch. We spoke with the tour desk here and are going to book a sunset dinner cruise for 5-7PM tomorrow as the last hurrah for Hoi An before heading off to Hanoi on Tuesday.
The resort we are staying at came highly recommended by the tour outfit we spoke with in Ottawa ... and we have found out why. Other than chest-of-drawer challenged, the place is wonderful and very affordable. There is an abundance of activity with personnel madly cleaning, mopping, making up rooms, pressure-washing the concrete pathways, and just about every thinkable type of 24 by 7 maintenance one could imagine. The guide from Friday mentioned that there is no minimum wage in Vietnam and it is obvious, as I noticed in Ethiopia especially, that labour is cheap and workers plentiful. It has been huge having the Vietnam SIM card for my Blackberry as there have been many calls back to North America, at a direct-dial rate of less than 15 cents a minute.
We will grab the 4PM shuttle into Hoi An. We will stop at the tailor shop where ST ordered a skirt for her little girl, walk around the town again, making our way to the cafe at 6PM for our cooking class. We checked up on the expected weather for Monday and more of the same.
