We met Nam and his wife Trang in the hotel lobby sharp at 7PM. Prior to that we booked a day long trip down the Mekong River that starts tomorrow at 9AM. We spend more than half the time on a boat. It is supposed to be wet tomorrow but that does not matter according to the vendor. We took a cab for a short ride then disappeared between some buildings into one of many many enclaves of stores and restaurants hidden behind the street. Dinner was traditional even with the dreaded cilantro. We had a few pork dishes and lots of vegetables and noodles.
We walked for a while after dinner then went back a bit to check out an outdoor market. I picked up a knock-off of Curb Your Enthusiasm seasons 1-7 for a whopping 10 USD or so. We found our way back to the hotel, stopping in the shopping centre close to the Rex where I bought 3 more DVDs ... The Wall, James Taylor, and BB King. Nam and Trang were lovely and their English a great deal better than I remembered. Her English seemed better than his after all. We went upstairs to the rooftop bar for a nightcap. We did not stay long as their was an annoying singer who was too loud. We have not received confirmation of the river trip tomorrow so will need to check with the travel desk first thing in the AM.
