We grabbed a cab to the old city after work. As it turned out, Sweet Thing had already been there with Junie. We were dropped in what turned out to be familiar territory for both of us ... me from my wanderings last time I was here and ST from traveling around with Junie.
The air was thick with city noises and there were people everywhere. The scooter traffic was intense and everyone felt compelled to blow their horns. You name it, one could buy it in the market areas of the old city. The sidewalk eating emporiums were full with natives perched on the ever-so-small green, blue, and red stools. ST bought a cute jacket for Helena, talking the store owner down a few dollars. We passed through the clothing sector, shoes, baby wear, and the DVD/CD stores were abundant. We stopped for Indian food at a small restaurant and ST was ready to erupt after a 45 minute wait for nourishment.
We walked for about another hour then cabbed it back to the Horison. I am switching hotels next Tuesday, the same day ST leaves. She calls Junie her BFF (best friend forever) in Vietnam and we are thinking of taking Junie home with us. My Sens are hosting the Canucks as we speak but I will miss the festivities as I am of work of course.
I am leaving work a bit early today so we can get a 2:45PM start to Halong Bay. We are there until noon minyana, when we board a boat for a 24-hour cruise/overnight which should be sweet. The ride there is by private car and takes the better part of 4 hours. ST reminded us that she has the mega-flights from Vietnam home Tuesday and, even though she is still looking forward to this weekend trek to the Bay, Monday will be the only break she gets from long travel times. ST is looking for a b__u for Junie and threatens not to leave the country until a suitable candidate is located :).
